Dover Sea School is a RYA recognised Practical and Theory Sea School now based at Ramsgate Royal Harbour in Kent -- 14 miles North of Dover -- 50 miles South of central London -- 25 miles from France and Calais. We are located In the Isle of Thanet on the Southern tip of Kent and the Southern corner of the Thames Estuary, on the South East corner of the United Kingdom.

We have been teaching sea school students for 50 years and have been an RYA recognised sea school since 1985.

Our Sea School theroy centre is based in the Watershed Unit, Eastern Cross wall, Ramsgate Harbour CT11 8LS

Our school boats are based in the marina section of Ramsgate Harbour.

The RYA practical course section of our school teaches all of the RYA motorcruiser, and sportscoat schemes.

For MotorCruiser practical: We use our displacement Dutch steel motorcruisers plus a selection of other vessels.

For the Sportsboat practical: We usually use our RIB Deep 6 Two:-

"Deep Six Two" is a fully equipped 6.5 metre RIB with a 250 Hp mercury Optimax,

The RYA theory courses are: in our harbour classroom and the RYA interactive theory courses are online.

We can offer Own Boat Tuition where it is required and we can do motorcruiser deliveries throughout Europe and the Mediterranean.

Our instructors are all RYA DoT qualified skippers with Commercial Endorsements.

If you need mileage building experience we can offer an assortment of 60 plus nautical mile passages for your logbook sea time building entries and reference the sea passages ecperiances while in comand for the certification required before your can take your RYA Yachtmaster exams.

Our delivery teams can quote for the delivery of your Motorcruiser anywhere in the UK, Europe or the Mediterranean

Tuition can usually be given to owners and/or their crews during deliveries if required

The Harbour unit houses our RYA Theory classroom and sea school plus our sea school marina office.

Dover sea schools office for postal and additional admin is in an 18th century thatched cottage in the middle of Ramsgate just 800 metres from the Royal Harbour and marina.

The main school boats are: 

"Sea Satin":         an 11 metre single engined Flybridge Dutch steel Pedro

"Deep Six Too":  our Ocean 6.5 metre RIB with a 250HP Mercury Optimax 

"Gallivant":           an 11 metre twin engined Dutch steel Pedro

"WestWinds":      a classic twin engined 13.5 metre Flybridge Cruiser
